Those who hunt monsters often end up monsters themselves.

Our next scene starts off slow, as Barsch and Kingston begin their search for their missing companion, not knowing if finding her is the right thing to do.

However, soon enough, they find themselves faced with an obstacle. Throughout Awakening, I try to maintain that the most prominent threat to the group is nature itself. Human’s destroyed what they were given, and perhaps on some level nature is trying to get revenge.

Although the scene with the cliff side tree is not as intense or scary as some of the other scenes, it still allowed me to showcase Barsch’s first use of his new weapon. Already, it is causing him pain, and his blood coating the blade is only a sign of things to come.

That blood has another purpose, in that it links the two men together. Their roles as saviour and saved will return in the future, but not always as you would expect.

Finally, Barsch’s quick healing is yet another sign that he is not like other people. As I have mentioned previously, one of the major themes of Awakening is “Façades”. Each and every character we have encountered is hiding behind a façade, whether they are aware of it or not.

Thanks for listening! Our next scene is a bit more light hearted, as our duo return to the chase. Look forward to “The Verdant Path”, coming soon!

And remember, Never Lose Your Stride, even if obstacles bar your path!
